Each mentor/mentee pair schedules their own meetings at mutually convenient times so that they can discuss industry issues, share their own experiences, and offer new technique ideas and so much more!
The INTA Mentoring Program can change your focus from just doing your job to managing your career. To enroll in the program complete either the mentor form for nail technicians who have been in the industry for five (5) or more years. New Help for Hispanic Mortgage Borrowers Spanish-speaking families are receiving special help in their efforts to purchase and finance a home of their own. This includes a widening variety of mortgage plans and other areas of support. An example of this emerging trend is a new program announced by Freddie Mac, one of the nation's largest buyers of existing home mortgages and supplier of funds for new loans. This organization is now providing mortgage lenders with tools that address one of the most common barriers to homeownership among the Spanish-speaking community - lack of information in their own language.
Freddie Mac is now developing bilingual security instruments, notes and other mortgage documents in English and Spanish. They are also producing bilingual consumer education brochures that explain each step taken in applying for and processing a mortgage. The educational materials include a primer on the importance of credit, and continues with a series of bilingual brochures that explain the lending process. The materials are provided to lenders for distribution to interested consumers, and are made available to community organizations.
The materials also address common misconceptions about banking and homeownership, and help consumers better understand their rights and responsibilities. Each of the educational pieces is formatted with corresponding English and Spanish text. "Freddie Mac has long been committed to working with our lender customers to increase homeownership among the fastest growing segment of the population - Hispanic and Latino families," said the vice president of Housing and Community Investment for Freddie Mac. "In the next decade, nearly a third of first-time homebuyers will be of Hispanic and Latino background.
A new Website has been launched specifically to serve the educational needs of Spanish speaking individuals who need a mortgage. The site - www.centrohipotecas.com - has been established by the Mortgage Bankers Association to "help homebuyers sort out the myriad details that can make buying and financing a home confusing and intimidating," a MBA announcement stated. The action was taken because of the rapid recent and projected growth in the number of Hispanic families in the United States over the next decade. It's now expected that more Latinos will become first-time homebuyers than any other ethnic group. The new Website provides information in a simple, easy format to help consumers understand all aspects of homebuying and homeownership, according to an MBA spokesperson. Topics include basics of homebuying, the importance of credit records, finding the right home, finding a mortgage lender and identifying what type of loan is best to meet a consumer's financial situation. "The MBA wants to help all Americans realize the dream of homeownership," the spokesperson said. "This new online resource will give Spanish-speaking people who are interested in buying a home the knowledge they need to confidently begin planning the purchase and financing of their new home." A recent study indicated that Latinos often lack sufficient information about buying a home. However, the same study also found that while only 10 to 13 percent of Hispanics are actively engaged in buying a home, about 44 percent are planning to purchase a home within the next five years.

Illinois Cosmetology License Rumors Recent questions surrounding the state of cosmetology licenses in Illinois generated this Q&A. It's important information for those practicing cosmetology in the state of Illinois:
Question: What can you tell me about the future of our cosmetology license? Rumor has it that we will be required a seperate license to administer each type of service(esthetics, nails, massage etc.) and will no longer be under the umbrella of cosmetology. Is there any validity to this and any target date to become law?
Answer: You're right, these are only rumors. The ICBC committee is finalizing its review and preparation of the Act for the legislature's review this Fall. There is ABSOLUTELY no change in the right of cosmetologists to perform all the services OTHER than there is a new massage therapy bill which limits the sort of body work that cosmetologists can do.
